Aaron Ali, M.D.

As a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and previous member of the US Army Reserves (‘90-’96), Dr. Ali’s exemplary leadership skills began at his time as chief resident at the Duke University Anesthesiology Residency program. Since then, Dr. Ali has served as Chief of Anesthesia, Chair of Physician Peer Review, and Secretary of Seton Northwest Hospital. In 2006, Dr. Ali formed the Travis County Anesthesia Association (TCAA) and served as CEO. Dr. Ali has served as a consultant for Stryker in the Acute Pain Management division, he sits on the Board of Advisors for Capson Physician Insurance Company, and contributes to the Advisory Board of DocBookMD.

Ryan Baird

Since graduating from Texas Tech University in 2006, Ryan has owned and operated several startups and small businesses, acted as Creative Director for a hospitality company, and overseen operations in product development, additive manufacturing, as well as medical device engineering firms. Ryan is a native Austinite, and enjoys animal rescue, networking, and reading.

Paul Mariani

After graduating from Montana State University in 2012, Paul has spent his time in research-based lab operations. He has been with MedtoMarket Consulting for the past four years, and is bringing his technical and operational skills to the MedtoMarket Lab facilities. Originally from Connecticut, Paul enjoys biking, skiing, and the culinary arts.

Lydia Portillo

Lydia moved to Austin from Southern California to attend UT Austin. After graduating in 2012, Lydia has worked in event coordination and management, specifically continuing education conferences. She oversees the development of conferences and workshops from conception to onsite execution and brings her organizational skills and attention to detail to the MedtoMarket team. She enjoys fitness, cooking, coffee and live music.

Dennis James

With degrees in Finance, JD, and MBA, Dennis’ career has been built on consulting, as well as holding board and c-level positions (COO, CFO, CLO) in start-up and early-stage businesses across a variety of industries. Prior to relocating to Austin, Dennis lived and worked in various cities including Scottsdale, Seattle, Dallas, Tokyo, and Paris. Dennis began his career as a corporate partner in a large Dallas law firm, and enjoys golf, woodworking, and reading.

John Sabra, M.D.

Dr. Sabra personifies the dedication to commitment and teamwork essential to medical and biotech innovation. During four overseas tours in the US Navy, he was a decorated officer advancing to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Now, Dr. Sabra is a Board Certified General & Trauma Surgeon and part of a team that delivers the highest level of acute surgical care in central Texas. After attending Brown University, Dr. Sabra received his M.D. from Brown University – Alpert Medical School. His internship and residency training were completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Dallas, and Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sabra’s clinical and life experience bring a wealth of resources to the MedtoMarket consulting projects.


John Schlitt, M.D.

Dr. Schlitt brings diverse experience to the MedtoMarket laboratory where broadness of vision helps achieve success. His participation in the medical device industry includes education, marketing, M&A, and intellectual property development. Dr. Schlitt’s formative journey started at Rice University where he received a B.S. with honors in Chemical Engineering. Later, he obtained valuable business insight as an investment banking analyst for Paine Webber before heading to medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Schlitt completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Duke University before settling in Austin, TX, He is now a private practice anesthesiologist who remains an active player in the business of medicine.
